What if....

What if we took time out of our busy day and just relished in the moment? Would we be able to just be? Would we feel inadequate because the stimulation of our everyday world would not be there to motivate us?

Without the phones, and the televisions, and the computer, and the internet, we find ourselves trying to fill a void. What we consider 'void' is what our ancestors knew as silence. Just sitting back in a chair and watching the day on a hot summer afternoon, sipping a glass of lemonaide. Now we drive through and gulp our drinks.

They would hang their clothes on a line in the back yard and the wind would carry it as high as the drying lines would allow. The sun would peak through to flash a ray of light. Now we have driers that have them dried in 30 minutes.

I took a family vacation this Memorial day, and while I wondered what I would do with myself, without the internet (we did have that) and the television (we did have that) and the phone (sorry the service was not available), I found myself, sitting outside with the family and talking. I found myself taking walks with the grandkids and exploring. I found myself playing
Chutes and Ladders and Go Fish.

What if we didn't have all this stimulation? It would be quite possible that time wouldn't pass us by so quickly. I know my days seemed to go on forever without the television, internet, and phones...and I am still alive. -RoseAnn
