Highway of Life
Have you really looked at the roads you travel? Have you driven those roads in silence when you have many thoughts going through your head? It’s funny, when you are young, you have the music blaring so that the cars around you can feel and hear the music. Then you have children and you pump up the music to drown out the chatter. Then you have none. No one in the car but you, thinking about your life; the choices you’ve made the paths you’ve taken. Some may have mapped their lives out, but the best rides were the rides of spontaneity. That road you travel is like your life. You have a choice of taking the entry ramp to take you onto a highway of fast moving vehicles. You can choose to stay in the slow lane while everyone passes you buy, but you are okay because you are taking it all in. The sights the sounds and watching others reactions is worth the trip. You can choose the middle lane, not really sure of yourself, because you don’t want to slow down long so that you have that much time to think, but not sure you want to speed so that life just passes you by. Then you have the fast lane with a goal; to get to your destination in one piece and on time. Others take the feeder roads with frequent stops. They are not quite sure why they just didn’t decide to hop of the freeway of life that is so much faster, so they are frustrated with the drivers who have to take the feeder roads to get to their destinations, because it only slows them down. We need to drive in silence to hear what it is that God is calling us to hear. Sometime we don’t always know the answer, but when we finally hear…your world just gets better. Life is a highway...take the fast lane, but every once in a while move to the slow lane and take it all in. You will realize we really are a blessed people. Just look at the images from New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. We really are America the Beautiful. Enjoy!
